It
is with great sadness that we learned of the
death of Colin McKechnie on the 10th
of March 2005. He will be sorely missed by
many people, especially those within the
wildlife fraternity and, of course his family,
to whom we extend our deepest condolences.
For those of you who are not
aware; Colin was the proprietor of the Gorge
Wildlife Park at Cudlee Creek in the Adelaide
Hills, which he and his family have been
operating since the 1960’s. He was always
ready to help or offer advice to anyone who
cared to ask. Typically, he would never mince
words and always called a spade a spade.
Colin was one of those
special people who was always willing to support
organisations like the Marsupial Society and its
members. In this picture he was addressing a
meeting of the Marsupial Society in the BBQ area
at the Gorge Wildlife Park.
His talks, as well as being
amusing and witty, were always highly
informative and knowledgeable, based on his many
years of experience in working with all manner
of wildlife.
Colin’s passing leaves a
tremendous void that is going to be hard to
close. He will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace Colin
